Introducing Actevate Exercise Physiologist- Tim Love

What exercise do you do regularly and why?

Oz Tag- "Each week I play Oz Tag once a week. I find social sport is a great way to improve your fitness and burn energy whilst enjoying yourself with friends."

Running- "I aim to run 1-2 times per week. Running is great for your cardiovascular fitness and is a great opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air. I also find running is a great way to reduce stress and improve energy levels."

Gym- "I like to go to the gym 1-2 times per week and perform resistance exercises. I find the gym a great way to challenge myself and believe skeletal muscle is extremely beneficial for your overall health and longevity."

Why is exercise is important to you?

"Exercise is important to me as I feel it is an essential part of my lifestyle and quality of life. Exercise provides many physical and mental health benefits and I enjoy having the opportunity to get out and interact with the community."

Why did you choose the sport/exercise you take part in and how does it make you feel?

" I chose Oz Tag as I enjoy playing in a team environment with friends. I also find the sport challenging and competitive whilst making me feel relaxed and stress free. I also like to run as it allows me to get outdoors. Running makes me feel energised and I feel I am more productive as a result. I initially began using the gym to improve my sports performance, however, I have continued as I enjoy setting goals and I am motivated to improve my strength and achieve my goals."

How often do you exercise and what motivates you to move?

"I try and exercise most days of the week. Each week the type of exercise varies, often influenced by factors such as work, weather and personal commitments. I like to have clear goals that I know will challenge me and provide a sense of accomplishment at the end. I often use practical goals such as a fitness event and enjoy the health benefits along the way."

What tips would you recommend to encourage others to move more?

"Firstly, I recommend selecting a physical activity that you find enjoyable. Whether you enjoy training alone, with friends or using exercise as a way to meet new people, always make sure you are doing something you enjoy. Secondly, spend time setting goals that inspire you to achieve them and make you feel excited to get started. Start with a short team, achievable goals that will keep you on the right path. Then build to bigger, more challenging goals."

If you can summarise your exercise regime in a few words, how would you describe it?

"My exercise regime is flexible and has variety, I'm always working towards a clear goal."

Introducing Actevate Occupational Therapist - Anna Mutsiwa

What exercise do you  do regularly and why?

"I currently attend personal training sessions 3 times a week and play Oz tag 4 times a week."

Why is exercise important to you?

"Exercise is my escape. Through personal training I get to focus on my personal fitness goals and I am constantly challenged by my trainer so I never get complacent with my exercises. When I play Oz tag, I get to play amongst other quality players, have fun and be competitive."

Why did you choose the sport/ exercise you take part in and how does it make you feel?

"Honestly, I started doing personal training because I got lazy when I moved out of home. I needed someone to make me accountable. Growing up I competed in tennis and that was a very individual sport. In Oz tag, I play in a team and every team member counts. I really enjoy the team socialising, growth and development."

How often do you exercise and what motivates you to move?

"I exercise 5 days a week. I wear a Garmin and that motivates me to get my steps up and I like seeing the results after exercise. I also just feel really good after exercising - must be those endorphins like the research says."

What tips would you recommend to encourage others to move more?

"Find an exercise or activity that you will enjoy and challenge yourself to be better."

If you can summarise your exercise regime in a few words, how would you describe it?

"Go Hard or Go Home *bicep flex*"
