What is an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)?

An EAP provides confidential, short-term counselling and advice for your employees and their immediate family members. The EAP can be utilised for any personal or work-related issues impacting employee well-being. Counselling is an informal discussion focused on determining the employee's concerns and their needs.

What about EAP confidentiality?

At all times your employee's confidentiality is guaranteed. All personal information remains with the Actevate and employee personal details will not be released to you without their written consent.

What might EAP be used for?

Some examples of reasons to suggest your employee use the EAP may include:

  • Dealing with change
  • Anxiety or depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Family or relationship concerns
  • Stress management
  • Mental health issues
  • Drug and alcohol addictions
  • Conflict management
  • Career counselling
  • Work-life balance
  • Financial or legal concerns

How often can the EAP service be used?

There is usually a standard limit of 2-3 hours per employee. This can be tailored to suit your company’s needs. If Actevate believes that an employee needs additional support beyond this, they will be referred to an appropriate individual or organisation.

How do employees access EAP?

To protect their privacy, employees can refer themselves for counselling by directly calling Actevate.

Employers can request a report to monitor how many staff are using the service and if it is for personal or work-related reasons.
