Actevate uses a unique two-step screening process combining an evidence-based online assessment with optional face-to-face evaluations by accredited Allied Health Professionals. This approach helps employers reduce workplace injuries and compensation claims by delivering the critical insights needed to hire resilient candidates fit for the role.

A pre-employment health assessment (also known as a Fit for Work Assessment) is a proactive screening tool used before an employee starts. It evaluates a candidate’s physical and mental capacity against the specific, inherent requirements of their future role.
This objective, data-driven approach allows your hiring team to make confident, compliant placement decisions while identifying areas where reasonable workplace adjustments can support safe, inclusive hiring.
Our unique two-step approach to pre-employment medical and WHS screening combines an online questionnaire exploring physical, psychological and medical history risk screening, followed by an optional face-to-face assessment completed by Actevate’s team of experienced and accredited Allied Health Professionals.
Delivering significant benefits for both employers and employees.
One assessment covering injury risk, claims risk, mental health, resilience and role fitness.

Removes the bias and inconsistency of traditional physician-led screening.
A snapshot of candidate risk, with guidance to build a safety plan.
Risk ratings verified by accredited Allied Health professionals, not one opinion.
Hire with clear insight into injury, claims, mental health and WHS risk.

Our secure personalised interactive portal provides an easy-to-use booking system, giving you peace of mind with real-time monitoring throughout the entire pre-employment process.
By matching a candidate’s physical capabilities to the specific demands of the role, our functional testing significantly reduces the risk of workplace injuries and long-term workers' compensation claims.
As the requesting employer, your business covers the cost of the pre-employment medical. That upfront investment protects you against injury claims and long-term liabilities that cost many times more. It also removes any financial barrier for candidates, keeping onboarding fast and straightforward.
Pre-employment medical screenings act as your front-line defence against rising insurance premiums and WorkCover liabilities. By objectively matching a candidate's physical capabilities against the demands of the job, you screen out high-risk mismatches before they lead to costly on-site incidents.
Actevate's data-backed approach not only drastically lowers your lost time injury frequency rates (LTIFR) but also provides robust documentation to defend against fraudulent claims, ultimately driving down your overall workers' compensation costs.
Pre-employment screening moves your business from reacting to workplace injuries to preventing them. By verifying a candidate's physical capability before they start, you establish a baseline that prevents costly hiring mismatches. The difference shows up across four cost areas.

We map the physical, ergonomic and environmental demands of the specific role, then measure the candidate against them.

Evidence-based measures of resilience, psychological readiness and behavioural risk, assessed alongside the physical screen.

A structured record of prior injuries, conditions and treatment, establishing a documented baseline before the candidate starts.

Baseline measurements taken at the point of hire, used alongside the wider screen to flag elevated physical risk.

Near, distance and colour vision testing, which matters for driving, plant operation and other safety critical roles.

A face to face check of strength, posture, joint movement and safe lifting capacity, completed by an accredited clinician.
Some roles cannot legally be filled without a specific medical assessment, and most of these must be repeated at set intervals. Actevate delivers all three alongside standard pre-employment screening, so you can manage them through one provider.
Commercial vehicle, bus and truck drivers, assessed against the national fitness to drive standards and repeated at the required intervals.
All three rail safety worker categories. Category 3 assessments are completed in-house by an Authorised Health Professional, with Categories 1 and 2 delivered through our medical network.
Health monitoring for workers exposed to asbestos, silica and other hazardous substances, at the intervals set out in WHS regulations.
Legislated medicals must be conducted to a government-defined standard, and only practitioners holding the required qualifications can carry them out. Every assessment is delivered by an appropriately qualified Actevate clinician, with medical sign-off provided through our clinical network where the standard requires it.
Every assessment is built around the inherent requirements of the role, so the standard we screen against changes with the industry and the job. A warehouse picker, a rail safety worker and a case manager face very different demands, and screening them to the same generic benchmark tells you very little. We work across a broad range of sectors, with the deepest experience in these six.
The Actevate Profiler is completed online, wherever your candidate happens to be, so most of the process is not tied to a location at all. Location only comes into it for the optional face to face assessment, which runs through our clinic network. Core coverage includes Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Newcastle and the Gold Coast, with Perth, Adelaide and New Zealand also available. If you are hiring somewhere not listed, including regional sites, tell us where your roles are and we will confirm coverage.
It is a health screen completed before a candidate starts, designed to confirm they can safely meet the physical and psychological demands of the role. Actevate combines the online Actevate Profiler with an optional face to face assessment carried out by an accredited allied health professional.
Candidates are rated against the physical and psychological demands of the specific role rather than a general standard. The report sets out risk across injury, claims, mental health and resilience, with recommendations and any adjustments worth making. It is not a pass or fail. The hiring decision stays with you, supported by clear clinical reasoning.
Disclosure is useful rather than disqualifying. Documenting a pre-existing condition before employment establishes a clear baseline, which protects both the worker and your organisation if a claim is later made against that condition. In many cases the role can proceed with straightforward adjustments.
Standard pre-employment screening is discretionary, but some roles cannot be filled without a specific assessment. Commercial vehicle, bus and truck drivers, rail safety workers, and anyone working with hazardous substances such as asbestos or silica all fall under legislated requirements, and those assessments must be repeated at set intervals. We can help you work out which apply to your roles.
Cost depends on the assessment and the demands of the role. The online Profiler sits at the lower end and is more economical than a functional assessment, with add-ons such as drug and alcohol screening, audiometry or vision testing priced separately. We quote per role once we understand what you are hiring for, and pricing improves with volume.
Most employers are set up quickly, because the Profiler runs through our online portal and needs no equipment or site visit to get going. We map your role requirements first so assessments measure the right things, then give you a booking system with real time visibility of where each candidate is up to.
